This piece was inspired by Yoshitaka Amano's beautiful illustrations of different fairies which i purchased while i was at G-anime. The painting process put me under a lot of pressure. At some point I decided to just render the hell out of everything lol. So this piece is more like a study than a finished painting.
What I learned was to stop painting forests and jungles as a backup when I can't decide on what to do for a decent background.... forest-crutch is my new term for that lol. That being said, I actually did plan out the background forest while planning the character so it's not that bad this time around. I tried something new and rendered parts of the background before finishing the figure, which I think works somewhat better than finishing a figure and then concentrating on the the bg. This way the fairy stands out more but at the same time is fused with her surroundings.
